Small-Group 2-Tank Dive in Cozumel with a Local Dive Instructor

Looking for a Cozumel dive trip where nobody rushes you? Stéphane has been guiding divers in Cozumel since 2008. Groups are small, four divers ideally and six at most, and everything is included. No surprise fees.

2 tank dive
$2,300 MXN

One day, two dives, everything included

Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Asipona marina. The boat leaves at 9:30 and is back between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m., depending on how far the dive sites are.

Each dive usually lasts 50 minutes to 1 hour. The surface interval between the two dives is at least one hour, so your body can clear the accumulated nitrogen.

Included in the price:

  • 80 cu ft air tanks
  • Marina and marine park fees
  • Fruit, sandwiches, salsa, guacamole, tortilla chips and unlimited water
  • A ride to the marina from downtown when possible, otherwise a taxi

Cozumel dive sites

Stéphane dives more than 30 sites and never repeats the same one in the same week. He picks the site the morning of the trip, based on the experience of the divers on board.

All levels: the Palancar sites (Brick, Cuevones, Cave, Horseshoes and Garden), with coral mountains, walls and swim-throughs, and Colombia Deep.

Beginners and less experienced divers: Colombia Shallow, a reef of 15 to 30 feet, and Caracolillo, a very colorful low wall at 25 to 60 feet.

Advanced divers only: Maracaibo, Punta Sur and the Devil’s Throat. Nitrox is recommended.

What you will see underwater

Caribbean reef fish, green moray eels, sharks, sea turtles and tiny nudibranchs. Cozumel is also home to the splendid toadfish, found nowhere else in the world. You will often see big spiny lobsters and king crabs of 40 to 50 cm.

From November to the end of March, spotted eagle rays gather in schools, with males reaching 3 to 4 meters across.

The boat and the crew

The boat is slow and comfortable, with a roof for shade, an on-board toilet and a hose to rinse your gear at the end of the day (2 boats out of 3). You can leave your equipment on board from one day to the next. A captain drives the boat and a marinero prepares the meals and helps on board, so Stéphane can focus on his divers.

Certification required

Most sites do not require a specific level. The northern sites, with stronger currents, require Advanced certification. If you are not certified, your first dive is a Discover Scuba Diving experience, guided by an instructor.

Not included

Tips for the guide and crew (never mandatory, always appreciated), 100 cu ft tanks and Nitrox (200 pesos per tank).
